Radio practice
Radio communication is a very important part of flying. The problem is that it's not easy to understand. There are a lot of numbers and abbreviations, foreign pilots whose English is far from perfect and the quality of the sound isn't always the best. All in all, I have a hard time understanding everything and catching the important information the first time around.
Therefore, I have decided to buy a radio scanner. This allows me to sit at the beach and listen to the nearby New Smyrna control tower. At least, I understand the guy at the control tower well enough, some of the other pilots are another story.
